Are you interested in working on complex M&A-projects with working times that suit your life situation?

Do you want more time for you, yet being able to leverage your finance expertise, network, and to grow your career?

Flexibility

I work as an M&A associate at Aquin 20 hours a week. As part of a project team, I guide our clients in keeping track of their company’s figures, establishing contact with investors, preparing due diligence and, in the end, negotiating the best possible deals. I enjoy working part time at Aquin. This allows me to run a small non-profit organization in therapeutic horseback riding for children and adults with special needs, as well as having enough time to share childcare and household work with my husband.

I grew up in a small family business in Finland. After moving abroad to study finance, my passion in M&A was awakened. The psychology of negotiations, the complexity of valuations, and the thrill of finally closing a deal just got me. At the beginning of my finance career, I reached my limits because I wanted too much too fast. I did not possess the skills to balance my life nor the self-confidence to say no strong enough to be heard. But I know, I am not alone. Many people struggle finding the right balance between work, family, and other endeavors without feeling stressed out.

Lots has happened in the finance working culture in the past decade. Right from the start, I have noticed that Aquin has implemented several measures to ensure that we serve our clients in the best way possible yet allow us to work part-time or flexible hours with enough time for other, non-work-related things in life.

Innovation

At Aquin, we have digitized the M&A process to the maximum so that tools like Salesforce, Templafy and AI-supported virtual data rooms make sure we do things right, so that we focus most of our time on doing the right things. The trust and flexibility of the Aquin team allow me to work anytime anywhere. I organize my life between kindergarten-pickup hours, horse dentist appointments (yes, horses also need regular dentist checks to stay healthy), and getting food to the table, while knowing exactly what my responsibility in the team is. In M&A, part of the thrill is that situations change, and you never know how your day is going to end up. Nevertheless, tasks rarely need to be completed spontaneously within a few hours. Instead, care is taken to ensure that they are organized, prioritized, and well communicated. This way, when I work, I am 100% focused on the clients and not worried about my life, and when I have free time, I am not worried about work.

Balance

It is not only fun, but a great privilege (especially in our field) to be able to do the job that you love, at the times that suit your life situation.
